Berkeley Law Alianza Alumni Scholarship

IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT

  • The Alianza Alumni Scholarship began after one of our alumni, Amanda Maya (’18), decided to invest in increasing Latinx success in law and funded the first-ever La Alianza scholarship.

  • This year marks the first time that we are reaching out to the broader alumni community to fundraise for the scholarship. We aim to spread the scholarship’s positive impact to more recipients for years to come.

  • Further, this scholarship will serve as a bridge between current students and recent alumni with the hope of increasing alumni involvement in our organization well beyond graduation.

  • Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the 2023-2024 school year in the hopes of awarding 5 incoming 1L's with $1,000.

Recipient Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be an incoming 1L/transfer student and an incoming member of Berkeley Law’s La Alianza Law Students of Latin American Descent.

Choosing the Recipients:

  • Prospective recipients will be identified, screened, and selected by the leadership of the Alianza student organization and its faculty advisors.

How To Give Through Check:

  • Please send the check made out to UC Berkeley Foundation, with "Berkeley Law Alianza Alumni Scholarship" written in the memo field or on the cover letter. All donations are tax-exempt. Additionally, all donors will be highlighted on Alianza's website and social media pages.

Native Land Acknowledgement


We take a moment to recognize that Berkeley sits on the territory of xučyun (Huichin) (Hoo-Choon), the ancestral and unceded land of the Chochenyo (Cho-Chen-yo) speaking Ohlone people, the successors of the historic and sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Muwekma (Muh-wek-muh) Ohlone Tribe and other familial descendants of the Verona Band.

We recognize that every member of the Berkeley community has benefited, and continues to benefit, from the use and occupation of this land since the institution's founding in 1868. Consistent with our values of community and diversity, we have a responsibility to acknowledge and make visible the university's relationship to Native peoples. By offering this Land Acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty and will work to hold the University of California, Berkeley more accountable to the needs of American Indian and Indigenous peoples.
